Conveyor belts and drive belts
Frebelt is a supplier of conveyor belts and drive belts for the entire industry. We have extensive experience and broad competence in the field.
We can offer conveyor belts in various materials, e.g. PVC, PU, felt belts and also plastic module belts, machine belts, spider belts, capsule gluing belts, toothed belts, wedge ropes, round ropes, etc.
We also offer heavier belts such as rubber belts, elevator belts, drive belts for drilling rigs.
Vanliga frågor och svar
How do you calculate the weight of a conveyor belt?
This is normally specified in the data sheet for each belt type, e.g., the belt's mass (weight) in kg/m². Contact us for the specific data sheets.
How do you measure the length of an installed conveyor belt?
Measure the internal circumference with a long measuring tape. If this isn't possible, measure the outer circumference and subtract (belt thickness x 3.14). Example: Outer = 1000mm, Thickness = 3mm: 1000-(3 x 3.14) = 990.58mm internal.
How do you repair a hole in a conveyor belt?
For TPU and PVC belts, the material needs to be pressed with a heat press to reinforce the hole. For rubber belts, we use fabric-reinforced repair patches and industrial adhesive.
What is the difference between flat belts and cleated belts?
Flat belts are typically used for inclines up to 18 degrees, while cleated belts are suitable for inclines up to 40 degrees depending on the application.
What is the main disadvantage of PVC conveyor belts?
PVC belts generally become harder over time, which can result in small surface cracks. Therefore, we recommend Habasit HySAN PVC belts for food production.
What is the recommended tension for a conveyor belt?
For Habasit conveyor belts, we recommend a pre-tension of 0.3% to 0.5% of the total belt length.
What should I do if a conveyor belt breaks during production?
To minimize downtime, you should keep a spare belt with mechanical fasteners in stock so you can quickly replace it yourself.
When is it better to use mechanical fasteners instead of vulcanization?
We typically recommend vulcanized belts for maximum lifespan. However, in cases where a quick recovery after a belt failure is required, we recommend using mechanical fasteners.
When should I choose hot vulcanization over cold vulcanization?
Hot vulcanized belts are used when an absolutely smooth splice is required on both surfaces. A key advantage is skipping the 12-hour curing time required for cold vulcanization. In terms of strength, the difference is minimal.
Which conveyor belt should be used for food grade applications?
We recommend choosing belts that meet food safety requirements (EU compliance), also known as a Declaration of Compliance (DoC). This is always specified in the data sheet.
Which is better: TPU or PVC conveyor belts?
It depends on the application. PVC has a softer and less wear-resistant surface. For higher demands on durability and lifespan, TPU belts are preferred.
Why is my conveyor belt mistracking?
Belts usually require a centered installation to track straight. Issues can arise if idlers are misaligned or if drive/tail pulleys are not properly crowned. Ensure all rollers are free from debris and buildup.
